Hyperhydrosis (Excessive Sweating)
This condition affects about 1% of the population (about 6 million people) and is the medical term for excessive sweating, most commonly affecting the armpits (axillary hyperhyrosis), the hands an feet.
Treatment consists of the doctor injecting tiny amounts of Botox® into each armpit with a very fine needle in 10-15 places. The treatment usually takes 30 minutes and the effects of treatment are noticed in about a week. Treatment is effective in 95% of patients and the results last about 6-9 months, after which further treatment is usually recommended.
The use of Botox® for the treatment of hyperhydrosis has proven to be very effective and relieves many sufferers of an often distressing condition.
